San Francisco Mayoral Candidate Forum: Mayor London Breed

A coalition of the City’s leading business and hospitality organizations hosted a series of interviews with the top five candidates running for mayor on June 17 and 18 at the Museum of African Diaspora in Downtown San Francisco. Moderated by Executive Director of Asia Society Northern California and a former television news correspondent Margaret Conley, candidates were asked the same 12 questions about economic development, the City’s budget, Downtown revitalization, safe and clean streets, and more. The sessions were limited to 45 minutes and filmed in front of a private audience. ABOUT LEADERSHIP 2024 Leadership 2024 is a collective initiative from San Francisco’s leading business and hospitality organizations to educate the public about key issues. The coalition includes Advance SF, the SF Chamber of Commerce, the Bay Area Council, the BOMA SF, the Hotel Council of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, and SF Travel. NOTE: Our organizations are prohibited from participating in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. What is your view? 24:17 What about zoning in terms of 6-8 story buildings and developing the west side? 25:54 Transit is vital for the functioning of world class cities. Do you support this and what are your plans to transport people to the heart of San Francisco? 28:42 Year after year, the City seems to struggle to balance its $15 billion budget. Do you see the City as having a revenue problem or a spending problem? 31:42 Let’s talk about the City’s narrative – how would you summarize it, and is it real or not? 34:57 What is your leadership style? As an example, how would you work with the Board of Supervisors? 37:19 If you win, what would success look like for the first 100 days of the new term? 40:50 What is your vision for the future of the City of San Francisco? 42:25 Is there anything else you would like to add?
